I remember...

31 Oct 2011

I remember crying a few days before I left to move here, asking my mum if Seth (our dog) would forget me, it really hit me in that completely random moment, when nothing special was going on at all (he was being adorable and a total brat all at the same time) and I was so worried suddenly.
I've spent all my life surrounded by cats, dogs, fish, rabbits and more, One of our older cats even got to sleep in my cot with me once or twice, apparently we took turns in using each other as a pillow. & MY cat, my beautiful Phoebe even learnt to climb my bunk bed ladders when I was miniature, so she could sleep next to me, dedication or what, she was a mega little fatty too, so I bet it took some effort, bless.

I have no idea where this all came from, or why I'm writing about it, I just miss my best friends today and that's all. (It's not like I found millions of cute animal pictures on pinterest... nope)

Kittens are the cutest.

  • Also, Happy Monday! & Happy Halloween!

A Wonderful Weekend {The Halloween addition}

30 Oct 2011

I LOVE Halloween, Love love love love it!! It's amazing, and in my opinion, should be a proper holiday! but here's the thing... I don't do the dressing up, looking like a zombie or something, I never have (I think I put fake nails on once and said I was a witch.. but that's about it.

I've come to love it more since my little sister has become obsessed (literally) with Halloween, I went home last weekend and the house was full on decorated and according to my dad had been for quite some time. It really makes me laugh, she's only 8 and gets scared so easily, yes she simply adores Halloween, crazy!
I totally bought her this a few days ago too, because I'm a big sister and I'm allowed to spoil her even more that she already is (more than I ever was.. grumble grumble ;)) Plus I think it'll be a neat surprise for her to get post, even if it arrives after Halloween :)

Last night was pretty brutal, I was finishing off my work up until 3am! then I got up at 9 and worked until 11 to finish it completely. Even though I'm functioning on a mere 6 hours sleep (which is basically nothing to me) I feel pretty good! It's such a relief to hand a big project in, my first as well for this course! (let's hope I pass....) I feel like I worked really hard on it, You must think because I stayed up like that, that I  rushed, but honestly I work better like that, I can't focus unless the deadline is right in my face, or else I'm just off in dream world, doing bits here and there.
These were my final developments, we were not supposed to have 'finished' pieces, only a sketchbook and a minimum of 6 pieces of 'developed' work. I had those as well as a little film I created showing me burning the tiny pieces of paper on the right (zink paper). Not bad! :)

1. I went out to H&M and got myself a pretty awesome cat dress to celebrate.
2. My work on my bed last night, looking oddly cool in negative.
3/4. Mix and match pj's with a bow in your hair is the way to go @ 3am.
5. What I wore today. (my hand is a claw...)

Happy Friday! :)

Today I'm lusting over modcloth bags

0

25 Oct 2011

Any one of these bags would probably make me tear up with joy or something, I mean just look at them, they're gorgeous! Notice how they're all over the shoulder/satchel bags... I have an obsession with those, they're just so... easy. My current bag of choice that I haul around uni is a little mauve kipling number that was gifted too me from my mother. It does the job, its okay, but I'd rather have that super sweet map bag any day!
Also, when I'm shopping for these and I see the price my stomach does little somersaults, but then my head says "hey, chill down there, that's in dollars not pounds you know ;)" & I start to think maybe it would be okay to buy but no no! resist Annabel because its something like 26 dollars for international shipping, yikes!

Are you a chocolate addict?? (like me!) I made devils food cake last week, and oh my gosh it was gorgeous, I could have eaten the whole thing (unfortunately I didn't get to). Chocolate cake, pie, drink, bar... you name It, I want it, and I've found some ah-mazing sounding recipes this week that I'd love to try sometime soon, especially that pudding in a jar, yum!.

A Wonderful Weekend {Have a cuppa' tea}

0

22 Oct 2011

Relax! Ctrl-Alt-Delete that to-do list and have a nice cup of tea (or coffee) in these funky cups. Ahhh ;)

+ If you're not the tea or coffee fan (like me) this recipe for blackberry lemonade sounds yum.
+ Or maybe you can make your own butterbeer this weekend? I would so love to try this, as I wont be visiting the Wizarding World or Harry Potter any time soon ..

Friday treasures [the Calendar addition]

21 Oct 2011

This Fridays treasury is just full of lovely lovely calendars, above are some of my favourites, but if you click the image itself or click [here], you'll see it's just pretty all around, I can't pick which one I'd love to have most on my wall all next year! We're spoilt for choice, so best start trying to choose now! ;)

Panic? me? never!

20 Oct 2011

Today is my 20th birthday, I mean really. I'm Twenty. Twenty years old. Damn, that's quite the jump from nineteen. It's the first birthday I've ever spent the day away from home, (I'm here all alone in my little uni room, but at least it was my day off! ;) ) and everything is so surreal, It doesn't feel like I'm twenty at all. Have you noticed I keep saying Twenty? I think I'm subconsciously freaking out or something..

Anyway, I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday (I think I may make that a feature... Fabulous Thursdays) I'm off to bake myself a devils food cake and later order some chinese with Michael. Yum :)

What I have been up to..

18 Oct 2011

This weekend, I went back home and packed a large portion of my room up because my parents are moving house (to Cambridgeshire!) About 80% of my stuff is going to charity shops or to be sold, but I did come across 10(!!) of my old sketchbooks, let me tell you they were heavy! I couldn't believe how much work I'd done over the past few years, and I though I was sometimes a bit of a slacker, pah!
What I've been up to
I've also been doing quite a bit of screen printing as my chosen elective, I really really love it, It's the first time I've been able to create a screen from scratch, exposing it myself and the likes. Fun! In the next few weeks I'll be getting to move onto etching, mono printing and more, I'm going to have to take a picture of the studio, all the machines are b-e-a-utiful.

Daily Lovelies {stripes}

1

Lately, I'm really liking striped clothing, stripes stripes everywhere please!
(I can most definitely tell I like stripes because I bought the skirt today and the jumper is in my online basket on topshop... should I click buy?? hmm..)

I've been feeling under the weather all day and had no appetite really, but it hasn't stopped me finding some amazing recipes that the miniature chef in me would look to cook! Not sure if these would all go together well in one sitting (you'd be quite full!) but the colours sure are nice and they all sound yum!

16 Oct 2011

This incredible wallpaper by Abigail Edwards is making me drool (just a bit) I'd love to have these in a future home, I think I'd feel inspired everyday, or perhaps just enjoy myself by staring at the walls for long periods of time...

Friday treasures [the foxy addition]

14 Oct 2011

click it ^
I've added an about me section yay! you can click the image, or the little link at the top of the page for a nosy.  It's not exactly a biography or anything, just a ramble (best kind) that I'm sure will get updated, altered and re-done many times.

Last night I made my second treasury ever, because I've discovered that lately I've been liking foxes, maybe it's their beautiful auburn colour or the fact that I'm just animal obsessed. Nevertheless, there are sure some beautiful foxy things around on etsy hmm.

Dresses, especially hand crafted dresses are b e a-utiful!

Simply stunning! I love all things hand felted, felt is one of my favourite things, you can make anything with it, anything! and its so soft, textured and colourful! yummmy.

I plan on making little felt abstract art pieces soon (when I find the time) I love how you can layer colours up, the way the edges thin out and become fluffy, and the extra things you can embed into the pieces (hello sparkles!)

When trivial things take all day.

Things I don't want to do.
+ Take the half an hour walk to my closest sainsburys for essential stuff called food.

Things I'd like to do.

+ Make some progression in my sketchbook before monday's crit.
+ Spend more time in the print workshop
+ Watch a nice movie with Michael and eat my dad's home made spaghetti bolognaise.

Good Things

0

12 Oct 2011

I discovered recently a new range of skincare called Good Things, in truth what attracted me was the packaging (pretty pretty) when I was browsing the isles of boots, but, what actually makes these products special is the ingredients.
All their products are free from Parabens, sodium laureth sulphate, animal ingredients and mineral oils. Which makes them great for sensitive or unhappy skin (like mine a lot of the time)
The main ingredients are the 'superfruits' with things like acai, blackcurrents, cranberries, figs, kiwis and soo many more, it all sounds delicious, like one mouth watering fruit salad, yum!

I actually purchased the total wipe out cleansing wipes and the facial mask. I use the wipes daily now, they're really refreshing and don't leave my skin feeling slimy or sticky afterwards. As for the mask, I've only used it once but it seemed soothing and smelt divine!

#2. What belongs here?

0

11 Oct 2011

After that awkward hello, what comes next? How do you follow that? I think its quite hard finding my feet, I have so many ideas on what to say write and do, that I just simply don't know where to begin. This is only post #2 after all! I cant swan around owning the place just yet when nobody knows who I am.

I've spent more time editing the layout (not happy), making graphics (again, not happy) and setting up millions of accounts with the FragmentedSplendour name than typing anything of real importance.

But! as you just read I am making progress, isn't that exciting?! :)

Now all I need is an amazing camera, a real creative space to call my own, time, an actual working printer within my budget (just £100), and designs & graphics that I'm happy with and suit me!

Whoa. I think I need to go do some internet shopping to calm down.

ciao.

Hello!

8 Oct 2011

Hello! First post, brand new blog! argh!
Nobody is reading this though are they, who in the world has found this place yet? If you have, I salute you, hug you, shower you with love ;)

About Fragmented Splendour ~
Fragmented Splendour is a mystery. It's a brand name, a lifestyle, a choice. Wait. No it's not. or is it?
Its a blog about the beautiful things in life, handmade lovelies, inspiration, creativeness, anything.
Fragmented Splendour is still cookie dough, it's not yet done baking :)

About me ~
My name is Annabel, I'm 19 (I'm 20 in 12 days though... so shhh) I'm currently at UCLAN university in the UK, studying Fine Art, whatever that is.
I'm quite lively, a little sarcastic, small, and I like to think a very nice person indeed.
I'm also lazy, insecure and slightly mental, but don't let that put you off.
